If you've been following me on Twitter/Instagram, you'd probably know this.

Last month I saw an artist who had to close his DeviantArt account because almost all of his artworks were stolen for NFT. I immediately subscribed to the core membership because I still want to share my art here and I genuinely feel like I have some of the best audience on this platform, which I have been building since 2011.

On January 19th, I opened DeviantArt and saw this notification.

1642593332617

Hey, at least DeviantArt's system works! I have proof here lol.

My fear became a reality. But in a weird way, I laughed it off, sarcastically. Sharing your work on the net is always risky. Either you want the whole world to know what you can do with the risk of being stolen, or you don't share at all. As an artist sharing who's been doing this for years, I've always braced myself for when that time comes. The reason why I laughed at this was because "Ah, the thing I've been waiting for has finally happened".

I immediately reported the artwork that was posted on OpenSea. I might laughed on the outside, but inside, I had a minor panic attack. Especially if you rarely encounter this kind of stuff. Thankfully I managed to pick myself back up quickly and honestly, genuinely just wanted to move on. I let go of this one incident and just focused on protecting my other artworks.

Fun fact: my Inktober 2016 Day 17 is my first most stolen artwork but I've done nothing to protect it.

Inktober Day 17 - t h e / o v e r t h i n k e r -

Some people suggested that I take it down via Google since OpenSea was said to not be helpful. On January 21st, I was about to open the link again to make sure that the image is still there, but it showed me this:

1642748209146

So... yeay?

I have no feedback from them to this day so I won't press matters any longer. Let go, move on.

-----------------------------------

This NFT incident was a big slap to my face. I went defensive mode. I deleted my Behance account. I did a spring cleaning on my Instagram and DeviantArt accounts. I have 2, in case you didn't know. The second one was originally created for me to post adoptables. It then evolved into my commission gallery. But after all that? I deleted everything except my old adoptables from 2018-2019. I don't want my clients' work to be stolen as well. I've spent 4 days reworking all my artworks. By all, I mean my original artworks you see in this account and my clients work that you can only exclusively view on my site now. I added watermark to everything. I resized the dimension & quality. I wrote this journal after I have finished reuploading everything.

I understand the risk, and though it's annoying to see a big & obvious watermark, I will make no apologies to anybody. Know that I'm doing this to protect my artworks.

Final word: I have a few people, prior to this incident, suggested that I do NFT. I always decline, and after I became a victim of art theft, I genuinely do not want anything to do with NFT. Simply because "my artwork was stolen for some human wanting easy money by selling it as NFT". If you support NFT & crypto, that's your choice and it's your life. None of us have the rights to forbid other people in their life choices. But let's not support art theft in any form.

Thank you for reading my life update. Stay safe.

As you can read from the title, I've decided to open an online store by the end of June on storenvy.com. I'm currently doing my bachelor degree thesis and I'll be graduating soon, hence I need to start make a living. If you're wondering why it's still so long, I also need to prepare the merchandises and find a good and trustable vendor.

I want to start small by selling some art prints in various sizes.  These are some of the illustrations that I MAY turn to prints and other types of merchandise:

and of course some of my favorite Inktober 2016~

Thanks for tagging me! I'm currently attracted more in portrait drawing, so this will be a fun "diary" to look back to my journey in finding my interest in art, moreover, my art traits :)

1. What was your first deviation? (can be from your current account or an old one)
The first time I tried drawing portrait. It's stuck with me until now, even if I've tried several different styles.

Aoi from the GazettE (I'm a huge fan  / 2011)

2. What's the most recent deviation you've uploaded?

(2016)
5 years later :)

3. Which deviation is your most popular? (can be based on favorites, comments, views, etc.)
I've always loved high contrast photo study, eventhough I tend to lose the details back then.

 Ruki from the GazettE (2011)

4. What are the top five after the most popular?
-In order from most popular-

 (2016)

  (2011)

  (2011)

  (2016)

  (2012)

5. Is there a deviation in your gallery where you tried something completely new or out of your comfort zone? (explain what you did)
During high school, I've encountered drawing patterns and lines (I guess this was when I developed an interest in linearts) and I fell absolutely in love with it. Even though I rarely use it nowadays, it was an experience (trial and error) and I still love it :) Also this was the first time I tried a rather "conceptual" illustration haha. Here are some of my favorites.

      (2011)

(2014) - I took a break from drawing for about 2 years as I just entered university and did not have much time drawing. This was me trying to get back into the game :)

6. Which deviation KILLED you to try get done?
My lecturer asked my friends and I to join an annual illustration competition and we need to send the original piece to the headquarter, thus we need to keep everybody's pace the same. I did this a week before the deadline. Thankfully it was received in time XD

(2015)

7. Which deviation do you feel you had the most fun working on?
Definitely my Inktober series because it made me fall in love with drawing faces again, more than drawing manga style ^^

        (2016)

8. Pick two deviations that you feel best sum up your improvement over time.
This will be a repost but, I have my heart in these pieces :) I picked these based on my ability in drawing faces as realistic as possible, with pencil and pen.

     (2016)

9. What deviation do you cringe at looking back on it?
Oh man why this question tho, I'm cringing right now XD It has got to be this one because oh dear that paper wave though dear sweet graphite on paper why did you do this to me...

  (2011)

10. Which deviation are you the most proud of? (list more than one if you want!)

My favorite question! Here we go~ (In order of time)

  (2011)

  (2015)

(2016 - I won 3rd place for the ESL One Frankfurt Dota 2 drawing competition)

 (2016)

       (2016 - Inktober)

  (2016)

Finished! Let me know what you think guys ^^
Also I'm only tagging one of my friend cause... she's my only close friend who's active in deviantArt lmao. But if any of you who see this would like to do it as well, please do it and tag me maybe? I wanna see :meow:

TAG YOU'RE IT!

Do this for me and I will buy you coffee everyday (okay not everyday that's bad)
